Today, On 6th March, The Bombay High Court upheld the arrest of Sachin Waze in the Antilia bomb scare case. Waze was taken into custody by the NIA in March 2021 for allegedly placing an explosives-laden vehicle near Mukesh Ambani’s residence. The court rejected his plea against the arrest.
Mumbai: The Bombay High Court dismissed a habeas corpus petition filed by former Mumbai police officer Sachin Waze, contesting his arrest in the Antilia bomb scare case.
A bench comprising Justice Sarang Kotwal and Justice S.M. Modak ruled against Waze’s petition, with a detailed copy of the order still pending.
Waze arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in March 2021 for allegedly planting an explosives-laden vehicle near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

He argued that there were procedural violations regarding the extension of his remand and claimed that his arrest was illegal due to the lack of prior sanction from the Central government, which is required for the arrest of armed forces personnel engaged in maintaining public order, as stipulated by the State government.
In October 2024, the High Court granted Waze bail in a corruption case involving former Maharashtra home minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Anil Deshmukh, following a statement from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) consenting to the bail.
On February 25, 2021, a Scorpio SUV loaded with explosives was found abandoned near Antilia, the Mumbai residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani. The incident sparked nationwide attention, leading to an intensive investigation by the Mumbai Police and later the NIA.
The case took a dramatic turn when the owner of the vehicle, Mansukh Hiren, was found dead under mysterious circumstances a few days later.
Sachin Waze, a former Mumbai Police officer with a controversial past, was accused of being involved in the plot. Investigators alleged that Waze, then serving in the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU), played a key role in orchestrating the incident. In March 2021, the NIA arrested Waze, linking him to both the bomb scare and Hiren’s suspicious death.
