A letter, not a court order: the Allahabad High Court Bar Association says it will boycott the court of Justice Ajay Bhanot over an alleged incident on October 27, 2026. The Judge’s side has not been reported, and everything below is the Association’s allegation.

Prayagraj: Alleging that lawyers were humiliated during proceedings before Justice Ajay Bhanot, the Allahabad High Court Bar Association has threatened to boycott his court in a letter dated October 27, 2026. Association President Dr. C.P. Upadhyay, a Senior Advocate, and General Secretary Santosh Kumar Mishra have signed it.
The Bar’s account, and its limits
The letter sets out the Bar’s version of the events and its demand. Each statement in it is an allegation by the Association, untested before any court, and no proceeding concerning it is pending.
Justice Bhanot has not responded publicly. This report takes no view on the accuracy of the Bar’s account.
Whether the boycott goes ahead
No law backs a boycott of a Judge’s court; it is a collective decision of the Bar.
It remains to be seen whether the Association proceeds and how the High Court administration responds. Both sides are free to place their position on record, and this report will be updated if a response is issued.
