Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday scheduled February 20, 2025, for hearing a petition seeking the transfer of additional cases related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Masjid dispute from the Mathura court to the High Court.
The Hindu side has so far filed 18 suits seeking possession of the land, removal of the Shahi Idgah Masjid structure, restoration of the temple, and permanent injunctions regarding the disputed site.
The latest order was issued by Justice Kshitij Shailendra on a transfer petition filed by Bhagwan Shri Krishna Lala Virajman through his next friend. The petition sought to move all cases related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute to the High Court for consolidated adjudication.
Advocates Rina N Singh and Rana Singh, appearing for the petitioner, emphasized that several cases concerning the Krishna Janmabhoomi dispute are already being heard by the High Court due to their historical and legal significance.
The lawyers also highlighted that six cases remain pending before the Mathura court, one of which pertains to Radha Rani Vrishbhan Kumari of Vrindavan. They argued that transferring these cases to the High Court would streamline proceedings and ensure consistency in judicial outcomes.
In response, the court issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board and other respondents involved in the case. The matter is now set for hearing on February 20, 2025.
On October 23, 2024, the High Court rejected an application by the Shahi Idgah Mosque Committee to recall its earlier order, dated January 11, 2024, consolidating all suits related to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute.
The Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute is a matter of great historical and religious importance. The ongoing legal battle over the site has drawn nationwide attention, with implications for interfaith relations and property rights in India.
