Actress Lakshmi R Menon and several others, who are accused of abducting and assaulting an IT professional in August, have approached the Kerala High Court to seek the dismissal of the criminal case against them.

Justice CS Dias heard the matter briefly today, during which the Public Prosecutor requested time to obtain further instructions.

Previously, the Court had granted anticipatory bail to Menon and two other co-accused after the complainant submitted an affidavit indicating that the dispute had been resolved amicably and that he did not wish to continue with the legal proceedings.

The case stems from a reported altercation between the complainant, an IT professional, and Menon along with her associates at a pub called ‘Velocity’ in Kochi.

The complainant alleged that Menon and her friends later blocked his car, forcibly removed him from his vehicle, and compelled him into theirs, where they assaulted him.

A First Information Report (FIR) filed against Menon and the others allegedly involved in the incident under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), including Sections 140 (2) (kidnapping), 126 (wrongful restraint), 296 (obscene acts), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 3(5) (common intention).

In her plea for anticipatory bail, the actress asserted that the allegations against her were baseless and motivated, emphasizing that she had no involvement in the alleged crimes.

Earlier, On October 8, 2025, the Kerala High Court granted anticipatory bail to Menon and two others accused in the case, noting that the matter had been resolved amicably and that the complainant had no objection to the bail.

Following the grant of anticipatory bail, she and the other accused have now filed a motion in the High Court to quash the case.
