In contrast of the strike from Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, the office of Haryana’s Advocate General, Baldev Raj Mahajan, has objected to the action and has instructed all law officers from Haryana to attend court proceedings tomorrow.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Chandigarh: Today (22 Feb), the Executive Committee (EC) of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association decided to refrain from work on Friday, February 23, in protest against the death of a 21-year-old farmer during the farmers’ protests and ‘Dilli Chalo’ march.

According to a statement by the bar association’s EC, they have consistently shown support for the farmers’ union.
“Following the regrettable and condemnable incident yesterday, in which a young farmer tragically lost his life due to police excesses, the Executive Committee has resolved to abstain from work on 23/02/2024,”
-the statement read.
In contrast, the office of Haryana Advocate General Baldev Raj Mahajan has opposed this action and has instructed all law officers of Haryana to attend court proceedings tomorrow.

The deceased farmer, Shubhkaran Singh from Bathinda in Punjab, was killed on Wednesday in clashes between security personnel and the farmers at the Khanauri border.
The farmers are protesting for various demands, including the enactment of a law to guarantee minimum support price (MSP) for crops. As part of their agitation, the farmers had planned to march to Delhi. In response, orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were imposed in various parts of Haryana to restrict the movement of protesting farmers and block roads leading to Delhi.

The farmers’ group All-India Kisan Sabha alleged that Shubhkaran Singh died during police action, a claim denied by the Haryana police.
Today, advocate Harinder Pal Singh filed an application before the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking a judicial inquiry into the death of the young farmer. The plea also requested an order to halt all obstructive actions by the Governments of Haryana, Punjab, and the Union of India against the farmers’ protest.
