“The establishment of an arbitration center named Prayagraj arbitration center is aimed at emphasizing its independence from financial or logistical support from the High Court… Our objective in establishing this facility is to foster an arbitration process characterized by efficiency in terms of cost and timeline… If arbitration proceedings prolong as much as court litigation, then what incentive do people have to opt for arbitration?”- CJI DY Chandrachud.

Speaking at the inauguration the CJI said the Prayagraj arbitration centre is not dependent either on financing or support from the Allahabad High Court.
“The idea of having an arbitration centre called Prayagraj arbitration centre is to truly indicate that this is the centre of arbitration that is not dependent either on financing or support from the High Court… By creating this venue, we want to create a process of arbitration which is efficient in terms of cost, timeline… If arbitration takes time as long as a suit takes in court then why people will go for arbitration”
-said CJI DY Chandrachud.
The Chief Justice also addressed the significant role of technology within the judiciary.
“The integration of technology into our judicial system aims not only to enhance our efficiency as judges but, more importantly, to bring our work directly into the lives of our citizens. Technology serves as a crucial tool in ensuring that our efforts are not detached from the community but rather intimately connected with it,”

“This culture of subordination (HC-district judiciary) has to be over, I want to allow them to speak to us.”

“We have made women-friendly toilets with sanitary napkin dispensers in the SupremeCourt as more and more women are joining the profession.”

“We are criticised for having holidays. Kahte hain inhe chutti bahut milti hai, but we work for 7 days. oday is the time when we have to communicate to the people. Today I have spoken from my heart, it is not with a sense of criticism. Uttar Pradesh provided me with an entirely new understanding of our nation.”

The CJI emphasized how the digitization of records had facilitated the adjudication process during the Article 370 hearing. Earlier on Friday, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud remarked that Allahabad has long been a hub for knowledge dissemination and intellectual exchange.
“With the Hybrid hearing, the Supreme Court Of India is no more court of tilak marg but of the entire nation.”

While addressing the inaugural ceremony of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University in Prayagraj, he also highlighted the vital role played by lawyers in nation-building and the pursuit of justice-
“Allahabad has historically served as a center for intellectual discourse and exchange of ideas. The University of Allahabad, often regarded as the Oxford of the East, has been a beacon of knowledge for the past 137 years. Lawyers have made significant contributions to nation-building.”
He further emphasized that lawyers have a pivotal role to play in the broader process of nation-building.
“Lawyers serve critical and diverse functions in society, contributing to the operation of legal systems and the advancement of justice. They represent individuals and entities, ensuring the protection of their rights,”

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of the rule of law in governance. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University held at the Medical Association’s auditorium, the CM highlighted the indispensable role of the Bar and Bench in upholding this principle.
“The Bar and Bench have consistently supported the establishment of a good governance model in Uttar Pradesh.

CM Adityanath underscored the significance of maintaining public trust in the judiciary, warning that a loss of faith in democracy could lead to unrest.
“We must all endeavor to strengthen all the pillars of India’s democracy,”
–he added.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of dialogue in a democracy, highlighting that individuals with grievances have various avenues to directly communicate their concerns to the government.
“The fear instilled by administrative inspections must be addressed for a fairer system.”
CJI concluded his speech.
