The sources further indicated that Kejriwal will occupy a barrack alone in Tihar under constant 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
“AAP MP Sanjay Singh was recently transferred to jail number 5,” they added.
His former deputy, Manish Sisodia, is to remain in Jail No. 1, former Health Minister Satyendar Jain in Jail No. 7, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in Jail No. 5, with BRS leader K Kavitha held in Jail No. 6.
Kejriwal was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 regarding the excise policy case and has spent ten days in ED custody following court directives.
The New Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, launched in November 2021, aimed to change how liquor was sold in the capital. It wanted to make more money for the state, stop fake alcohol sales, and give customers a better experience. However, it met a lot of opposition and accusations of not following the rules properly, so it was canceled on August 1st, 2022.
One big change in the policy was that the government would no longer directly control liquor sales. They wanted to have more shops selling liquor, offering more types of drinks, and making shopping safer and more welcoming.
Moreover, the policy proposed lowering the legal drinking age from 25 to 18, although this aspect did not come to fruition due to legislative constraints.
