The legal dispute between actors Dhanush and Nayanthara has reached a crucial stage, with the Madras High Court setting the final hearing date for April 9, 2025. The case revolves around Dhanush’s Rs. 10 crore lawsuit against Nayanthara for allegedly using behind-the-scenes footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix documentary without permission.
Madras: Wunderbar Films, the production house owned by actor Dhanush, claimed before the Madras High Court on Wednesday that it holds the copyright for all aspects of the 2015 movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, including the characters and even the costumes used in the film.
Today, On 27th November, Dhanush filed a lawsuit against Nayanthara for using visuals from the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without consent in her Netflix docu-drama. The case raises intellectual property concerns in entertainment. Nayanthara argues she sought necessary permission, claiming Dhanush’s animosity prompted the legal action after the docu-drama’s trailer release.
