Calcutta High Court Orders Deployment of Central Forces Till June 21

Yesterday, On 12th June, The Calcutta High Court has ordered the deployment of central forces in West Bengal until June 21 to address post-election violence concerns. The state government must provide a report on measures taken by June 14. The court emphasized cooperation between state police and central forces and scheduled a next hearing for June 18. BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari welcomed the order.

Alleging attacks orchestrated by the ruling party, TMC, he demands a neutral investigation by the CBI or another independent agency. The court has scheduled hearings on Adhikari’s and another lawyer’s petitions.
