On Friday(on 14th June),Delhi Lt. Governor V.K. Saxena has sanctioned the prosecution of author Arundhati Roy and former Kashmir professor Sheikh Showkat Hussain under the UAPA for allegedly making provocative speeches at a 2010 event. The FIR was registered based on the Court of Metropolitan Magistrate’s orders, according to Raj Niwas officials.
Delhi Court today extends BRS leader K Kavitha’s custody till July 3 in the liquor policy scam case. Three co-accused were granted bail. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana CM, is accused of involvement in a corruption and money laundering case related to Delhi’s excise policy. The case alleges favoritism and diversion of funds.
Today (3rd May): The Supreme Court is considering the possibility of granting interim bail to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal during the Lok Sabha Elections in light of his arrest by the ED. The court raised concerns regarding the timing of the arrest and potential liability under the PMLA. Kejriwal’s counsel questioned the rationale behind his arrest, emphasizing that his scheduled appearance had been known.
Today (23rd April): The Delhi Court, under Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, extended Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody until May 7 regarding a money laundering case related to the Delhi excise policy scam. The Enforcement Directorate’s probe is based on alleged irregularities in the 2021-22 policy. Kejriwal’s plea challenging his arrest was dismissed, leading to the extension of his custody.
Today(on April 19), the Aam Aadmi Party announced that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has filed a petition for insulin provision in jail due to acute diabetes and fluctuating blood sugar levels. He is also seeking permission for daily doctor consultations via video and his wife’s presence. Lt Governor Saxena has ordered a report on these concerns.
