The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.
The Delhi High Court dismissed a PIL against IAS Officer Aunjaneya Kumar Singh, who had lodged 66 FIRs against Azam Khan and his sons. The court ruled that PILs cannot be entertained in service matters, only by non-appointees challenging the legality or extension of an officer. Singh’s actions were related to the model code of conduct during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
