Today, On 6th September, the Chief Justice of India acknowledged concerns about vacancies in the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) raised by the Bengaluru Bar Association. He assured that the Supreme Court will address the issue and look into the unfilled positions. The ITAT, responsible for direct tax appeals, currently faces delays due to insufficient members.

Today(31st July), the Calcutta High Court, led by Justice Arindam Mukherjee, issued a stay on the appointment of temporary staff in North 24 Parganas and South 24 Parganas district courts. Justice Mukherjee also directed authorities to submit an affidavit explaining the reasons for hiring contractual staff in these courts.

Patna High Court: Clearance for ‘Appointment of Assistant Professors’ in Bihar State Universities

The Patna High Court has permitted the recruitment of assistant professors in Bihar’s state universities, ending a four-year hiatus. The court mandated specific guidelines for creating reservation rosters for each university. The decision ensures subject-wise and university-wise determination of reservation quotas, following a prolonged legal dispute. The Bihar State University Service Commission will promptly resume the appointment process.
