NEW DELHI: Today, 20th March, The Supreme Court of India has strongly criticized the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police for misusing the anti-conversion law in an alleged rape case. The court questioned the fairness of the state authorities and raised concerns over the arbitrary application of the Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021.
The Supreme Court Today (Feb 21) withdrew its 10-day probe order against MLA Abbas Ansari and asked UP Police for a status report on pending investigations before deciding on his bail plea.
The Supreme Court Today (Feb 21) ordered UP Police to complete the probe against MLA Abbas Ansari in 10 days. His bail plea will be considered only after the investigation is done.
