The Delhi High Court has directed Tihar Jail authorities to provide urgent and appropriate medical treatment to separatist leader Yasin Malik, serving a life sentence, and ensure hospitalization outside the prison if required due to his health condition.
The Delhi Court is set to announce its decision on Engineer Rashid’s regular bail plea on November 20, following delays in ruling on his bail related to a terror-funding case. Rashid has been in Tihar jail since 2019, and the judge’s decision will also consider the case’s jurisdiction and possible transfer.
Today, On 11th November, Tihar Jail authorities informed the Delhi High Court that Yasin Malik ended his hunger strike on November 8 and is receiving medical care. He sought treatment at AIIMS or a super-specialty hospital. The next hearing is scheduled for November 18, with the court directing that appropriate care be ensured.
The Delhi High Court today has reserved its verdict on jailed Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea for additional meetings with his legal team. Kejriwal cited the numerous legal cases he faces as justification. Tihar Jail authorities oppose the request, arguing against special treatment. The court sought responses from the jail and the Enforcement Directorate.
