The Calcutta High Court ruled that repossessing a loan-funded vehicle after repeated EMI defaults is not theft and quashed the criminal case against a bank agent. The court held that taking back a car after default is lawful.

Pune: Today, 28th Feb, In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a bus at Pune’s Swargate Bus Stand while waiting for transport to her hometown in Satara district. The accused, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, was arrested after an extensive 75-hour manhunt and has now been sent to 12-day police custody by Pune’s Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court.

The Supreme Court Yesterday (Dec 20) granted interim protection from arrest to lawyer Hardyal Inder Singh, accused of stealing judicial documents and equipment from the Ludhiana Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court. A Bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Prashant Kumar Mishra issued a notice to the Punjab government and directed that Singh not be arrested until the next hearing on January 3, 2025, provided he cooperates with the investigation as required.
The Delhi High Court today declined interim relief to Jyotir Peeth Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati in his defamation suit against Swami Govindananda Saraswati. Supreme Court Advocate Bhupendra Kumar Bharadwaj filed an FIR in Maharashtra, alleging theft and disturbance by villagers after performing rituals on property acquired from Dawood Ibrahim’s family.
