The Maharashtra government terminated the services of two members of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) here in connection with bail given to a juvenile accused in the Pune Porsche crash case, officials said Today (Oct 10). A probe panel of the state Women and Child Development (WCD) Department had recommended action against the two members – L N Danwade and Kavita Thorat – for alleged “procedural lapses, misconduct and non-compliance with norms”.
Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud Yesterday (May 23rd), had a bilateral meeting with the Chief Justice of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyar Islamov, in Tashkent. He discussed the possibility of bilateral cooperation between the top courts of both the countries.
The bench led by CJI Chandrachud Today (May 8th), emphasized that contracts awarded to private parties should not be cancelled without providing reasons. This statement came as the bench reserved its judgment on an appeal challenging a decision of the Calcutta High Court. The Apex court marked that private parties, having made investments after securing a contract, hold a reasonable expectation of receiving returns.
