Today, On 6th August, The Supreme Court started hearing petitions by women Army officers from the Short Service Commission, alleging discrimination in denial of permanent commission. Similar petitions from the Navy and Air Force will be heard next.
The Supreme Court addressed gender discrimination faced by elected women representatives, particularly regarding the arbitrary removal of a female Sarpanch in rural areas. Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan highlighted entrenched biases and systemic prejudice against women, calling for urgent reform and emphasizing the need for empowering female leadership in governance.
On 6th of March: The Delhi Arbitration Weekend 2024 saw the launch of the ‘Delhi Arbitration Review’ by the Delhi International Arbitration Centre. Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, led the release alongside other esteemed justices. The session delved into biases in arbitration, drawing a diverse audience, and emphasizing inclusivity in dispute resolution processes.
