Yoga guru Ramdev appeared in person to face the Supreme Court Today (April 2nd) over Patanjali Ayurved’s “misleading advertisements”. The Apex Court earlier issued a directive summoning Baba Ramdev to appear personally before the court as he had not filed a response to a show cause notice in the contempt proceedings initiated against Patanjali Ayurveda.
Patanjali Ayurved and Acharya Balkrishna on Wednesday apologized unconditionally to the Supreme Court for their contentious advertisements targeting evidence-based medicine, assuring not to repeat such campaigns. They emphasized the intention to promote Ayurveda for a healthier lifestyle. The Court had warned Patanjali in 2023, and recently mandated the personal attendance of Baba Ramdev and Balkrishna for the ongoing case.
The Supreme Court Today summoned Baba Ramdev for not responding to a contempt notice in the Patanjali Ayurveda deceptive advertising case. Justices demanded his presence, referencing the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act. Previous proceedings involved restrictions on Patanjali’s ads and criticism of the government’s response.
