Today, On 14th November, a Delhi court released AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, refusing to recognize the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet in the Waqf Board case. Although the court noted sufficient evidence for prosecution, it lacked the necessary sanction. Khan was arrested on September 2 for alleged involvement in irregularities and money laundering linked to the Waqf Board.
Umar Khalid, a former JNU student and activist, has spent four years in jail awaiting the framing of charges under the UAPA in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots. Despite being acquitted in one case, he remains detained due to a second case invoking anti-terror laws. Legal proceedings have been slow, raising concerns about justice in UAPA cases.

On Wednesday(24th April),The courtroom drama unfolded at the Delhi Rouse Avenue court during the Delhi excise policy case hearing. Defense lawyers walked out after the court allowed the CBI to proceed with arguments on framing charges, despite objections. Special CBI Judge expressed astonishment, and the hearing has been adjourned until May 7 for document submissions.
