NEW DELHI: On Monday, The Supreme Court of India has warned that its decision on the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL) dispute must be followed strictly. The court stated that if the ruling is not obeyed, it will take strict action against the officials of the private company and Axis Bank.
The Delhi High Court on Monday(25th Nov) criticized the government’s funding dispute over a flyover repair, emphasizing that safety must come first. Concerns arose about accountability if the structure were to collapse, as both the TTDC and PWD shifted responsibility. The court expressed frustration about ongoing bureaucratic delays impacting public safety and infrastructure financing.
The Supreme Court On Thursday(14th Nov) petition concerns DMRC’s claim against DAMEPL for failing to refund deposited funds. Justice KV Viswanathan recused himself from the case. Previously, a 2021 ruling favoring DAMEPL was overturned, reinstating DMRC’s victory. DMRC is now pursuing contempt charges for DAMEPL’s non-compliance with the refund order.
