Calcutta High Court has directed the Centre to resume the MGNREGA scheme in West Bengal from August 1, stating that the “central government could impose specific conditions to prevent past irregularities” and ensure proper implementation and accountability.
The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, introduced by Minister Kiren Rijiju, aims to enhance the management of Waqf properties, currently overseen by a board. Despite opposition accusing it of discrimination, Rijiju clarified it supports the Muslim community. The bill allows for legal appeals and emphasizes transparency in property management.
