The Supreme Court on Thursday (5th Dec) set aside a Manipur High Court order requiring the CBI to locate a fugitive rape convict, deeming it unnecessary. The Court observed that the state had already formed a special team for this purpose, and the CBI’s involvement would duplicate efforts. The convict, Timothy L. Changsang, was previously convicted under the POCSO Act for multiple offenses.
