The petitioners, including lawyers and concerned citizens, have asked the court to review the 1991 judgment in K. Veeraswami v. Union of India, which requires the Chief Justice of India’s (CJI) approval before an FIR can be registered against a sitting judge.

Satyendar Jain has filed a defamation suit against BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj over allegations she made during a television interview, labeling him as “corrupt” and a “fraud.” Jain claims these false statements have severely harmed his reputation. The case, viewed as politically motivated, is ongoing with hearings scheduled until January 2025.
The Rouse Avenue Court has given BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj one week to file her response in a defamation case.
