A local court on Thursday refused to grant interim bail to Shahi Jama Masjid president Zafar Ali. The court has now scheduled the hearing for his regular bail plea on April 2, according to officials.Additional district judge II, Nirbhay Narayan Rai, dismissed Zafar Ali’s interim bail request after hearing arguments from both the defense and the prosecution.
Allahabad: Today, 27th Feb, The Allahabad High Court instructed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to inspect the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal to determine whether it requires whitewashing and painting. This decision came after the mosque management committee sought permission to carry out the maintenance work before Ramzan.

NEW DELHI: Today(6th Jan): A Hindu group, the Akhil Bhartiya Sant Samiti, has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the constitutional validity of the 1991 Places of Worship Act, claiming it infringes on fundamental rights and prevents communities from reclaiming religious sites. The law maintains the status quo of religious places since 1947, excluding disputes related to the Babri Masjid.
