New Delhi: Today, 28th Feb: The Delhi High Court dismissed a petition seeking clarification on its earlier order related to the installation of Maharani Lakshmi Bai’s statue at Shahi Idgah Park in Delhi’s Sadar Bazar. The court stated that there was no need for any clarification regarding its previous decision.
On October 7th, the Delhi High Court was informed that the installation of Maharani Lakshmi Bai’s statue at Shahi Idgah Park does not infringe on prayer rights. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi completed the installation, and a mutual resolution was reached after contestation from the Shahi Idgah Managing Committee, ensuring peaceful coexistence.
Yesterday, On 5th October, the Delhi High Court heard a case regarding a statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai installed at Shahi Idgah Park. The Municipal Corporation assured the court that local sentiments were respected during installation. The court emphasized the need for an amicable resolution and allowed representatives of the opposing committee to inspect the statue’s placement.
A plea filed by the Shahi Idgah Management Committee was dismissed by the Delhi High Court, which criticized the appeal as politically motivated and a potential source of communal tension. The court indicated that the installation of a statue of Rani Lakshmi Bai would proceed as planned by the MCD, emphasizing women’s empowerment.
On Monday(23rd Sept), The Delhi High Court dismissed a plea challenging the installation of Maharani of Jhansi’s statue at Shahi Idgah park in Sadar Bazar. Justice Dharmesh Sharma rejected the claim that the entire property within the Idgah’s walls belonged to the Shahi Idgah.
