The Court observed that the state had already formed a special team for this purpose, and the CBI’s involvement would duplicate efforts. The convict, Timothy L. Changsang, was previously convicted under the POCSO Act for multiple offenses.
Today, On 20th September, the Supreme Court allowed Tamil Nadu police to summon BJP leader Kesava Vinayagam regarding Rs. 4 crore in cash seized on a train, suspected to fund a BJP candidate for Lok Sabha elections. The court overruled a Madras High Court ban, granting a week’s notice for the summons.

Today, On 9th September, The Delhi High Court granted Dheeraj Wadhawan bail on medical grounds in a CBI case related to a bank fraud. The court reversed the trial court’s order and requested the CBI to provide a status report. The Supreme Court had previously overturned a decision granting bail to Dheeraj and his brother. The CBI had filed a chargesheet, and the trial court had granted default bail.
