Today, On 29th May, Lawyers in Agartala protested prolonged power outages affecting the judicial system after Cyclone Remal. They detained a senior official and demanded immediate restoration of power. Despite the assurances from the Power Minister, the opposition party staged a demonstration, blaming the government for outsourcing power services, which led to the depletion of TSECL’s assets. The storm caused extensive damage, requiring significant time to fully restore electricity.
