Chandrachud, dismissed SpiceJet’s appeal against a Delhi High Court ruling requiring the airline to ground three aircraft engines due to unpaid dues. The High Court upheld that SpiceJet’s default violated a payment arrangement, emphasizing the urgency to protect the lessors’ interests.
Revanth Reddy, arrested in 2015 for allegedly bribing an MLA during legislative council elections, faced Supreme Court scrutiny. The court advised against his interference in the prosecution while rejecting a trial transfer request. Concerns emerged regarding Reddy’s influence as Chief Minister, prompting potential appointment of an independent prosecutor for impartiality.
The Centre has informed the Supreme Court of delays in implementing the SC Collegium’s recommendations for high court chief justice appointments due to “sensitive material” held by the government. Attorney General R. Venkatramani proposed submitting these inputs in a sealed cover for the judges’ review to maintain confidentiality. The matter will be heard again on September 20.
