The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) filed a petition at the Calcutta High Court challenging the housing of lioness ‘Sita’ and lion ‘Akbar’ at Siliguri Safari Park. The organization objects to the religious implications of housing and naming the lions together, demanding a name change for ‘Sita’. The case is scheduled for a hearing on February 20th.
