Today, On 22nd August, The Allahabad High Court reserved its decision on Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh’s bail plea linked to a 2001 protest case. Singh, convicted earlier this year, does not need to surrender before the Sultanpur court until the High Court rules. The case involves poor electricity supply protest, resulting in arrest warrants.
Today(on 29th May), Rampur court convicts SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan in an eight-year-old case of house eviction and assault. Khan found guilty of forcibly vacating a house and physically assaulting the owner, Abrar.
The Supreme Court has granted the Uttar Pradesh government a 10-day extension to respond to Swami Prasad Maurya’s case. Maurya had challenged the Allahabad High Court’s decision rejecting his plea to stop proceedings related to alleged remarks on ‘Ramcharitmanas’. The former Samajwadi Party leader has been the subject of controversy and has recently formed his own political party after leaving the Samajwadi Party.
