New Delhi, March 11 – The Delhi High Court on Tuesday stated that top wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sakshi Malik could challenge the Centre’s decision to revoke the suspension of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
The Delhi High Court today restored the mandate of the Indian Olympic Association’s ad-hoc committee for the Wrestling Federation of India, following a plea by wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Satyawart Kadian. The court ruled that the dissolution of the ad-hoc committee was unwarranted and allowed IOA to reconstitute it with multi-member expertise in international federations.
Today(on 2nd April), The Delhi High Court heard a petition from wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and Satyawart Kadian regarding issues with the Wrestling Federation of India. The court directed the Centre and IOA to clarify their stance post-IOA committee dissolution. Justice Sachin Datta stressed the need for clarity and requested IOA’s explanation on the committee dissolution, setting the next hearing for April 10.
