Today(on 3rd September), The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has summoned CM Arvind Kejriwal in the CBI’s Delhi Excise Policy corruption case. The next hearing is scheduled for September 11. The case involves corruption allegations related to the Delhi government’s liquor policy and has implicated several individuals, emphasizing the seriousness of the charges.
The Supreme Court Today (Aug 27) adjourned hearing on the bail plea of former Aam Aadmi Party communication in-charge Vijay Nair in a money laundering case related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. A bench of justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti deferred the matter after the counsel for the ED sought a weeks’ time for filing a counter affidavit.
The Rouse Avenue court recorded the testimony of a female wrestler in the sexual harassment case against former WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. The victim’s testimony will continue on September 10. No media access was allowed, and security for the victim was confirmed. Additional accusations and court proceedings were also addressed.
At the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday(22nd August),, the Principal District and Sessions Judge warned advocate Abhijit Anand that any further misbehavior could result in contempt proceedings. Anand, representing the father of deceased UPSC aspirant Nevin Dalvil, faced this stern judicial reprimand.
Today(on 8th August), The Rouse Avenue court has extended Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s custody till August 20 in the Delhi Excise policy case. Earlier, the Delhi High Court dismissed his plea challenging the CBI arrest, affirming the justifiability of his arrest. The court also questioned the ED about potential consequences of cancelling his bail, adjourning the matter to September 5, 2024.
Today, On 31st July, a Delhi court extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and K. Kavitha in separate cases. Kejriwal’s custody was extended till July 31 (money laundering) and August 8 (corruption), while Sisodia and Kavitha faced custody extensions until August 13 and August 9 respectively. Legal proceedings continue.
Today, On 30th July, The Rouse Avenue Court scheduled August 12 for hearing the CBI’s chargesheet against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and five others in the excise policy case. The case involves alleged irregularities in the policy’s implementation, with the court’s decision holding significance for Kejriwal’s legal standing. The High Court reserved its decision on Kejriwal’s bail plea and plea for interim bail.
Today, On 26th July, The Delhi court summoned the victim in the Brij Bhushan sexual harassment case for testimony on 26th July. Forensic analysis of mobile evidence faced delays at the FSL. The court postponed evidence recording due to the mobile phone being at the FSL. The matter is rescheduled for August 6. Charges against Brij Bhushan were framed on May 21.
Today, On 25th July, The Delhi High Court issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in response to a petition filed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyendar Jain, challenging a trial court’s summons in a money laundering case. Despite ED’s opposition, the High Court proceeded to issue a formal notice. Jain remains incarcerated in connection with the case.
