The Telangana High Court granted anticipatory bail to a man accused of rape on a false promise of marriage. The Court noted their 6-year-long relationship and partial completion of the investigation.
The Karnataka High Court ruled that consensual relationships do not excuse acts of violence or intimidation, in a case against a police inspector accused of harassment by a social worker. Despite denying the allegations, the inspector faced serious charges as the court recognized the complainant’s claims of assault and intimidation, allowing the trial to proceed.
The Calcutta High Court allowed the application filed by a rape accused seeking DNA Test of the child and clarified that when “non-access” to a relationship is claimed by the accused, it is his right to have the same proved by way of evidence available/possible. The High Court was considering a revisional application preferred against an order of the Additional Sessions Judge arising out a criminal case registered under Sections 376 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code. The Single-Judge Bench of Justice Shampa Dutt (Paul) said, “Thus, when “non-access” is claimed in such a relationship, it is the right of the accused to have the same proved by way of evidence available/possible.”
Srishti Tuli, a 25-year-old Air India pilot, allegedly committed suicide in her Marol flat on November 25. Her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, 27, was arrested the following day for abetment. The police are investigating deleted WhatsApp messages that may reveal critical insights, following accusations of harassment against Pandit.

Today (20th March): The Delhi High Court has summoned Mahua Moitra in response to a defamation suit filed by advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai. Both parties were instructed to refrain from making defamatory statements against each other.
