New Delhi – The Delhi High Court on Wednesday urged the Centre and the Delhi government to resolve the long-pending issue of regularising the Sainik Farm colony in South Delhi. The court asked both authorities to sit together and find a solution.
The Supreme Court Today (March 7) intervened in Dharavi’s redevelopment dispute, as UAE-based Seclink challenges the Maharashtra government’s move to award the Rs 7,200 crore project to Adani. Seclink now promises a 20% higher bid.
The Bombay High Court Today (Dec 20) dismissed a petition filed by UAE-based Seclink Technologies challenging the Maharashtra government’s decision to cancel its 2019 bid for the redevelopment of Dharavi slums and issue a fresh tender in 2022. This decision ultimately led to the project being awarded to Adani Properties.
On September 23, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud began construction on a new Bombay High Court complex, while the Supreme Court directed Maharashtra’s chief secretary to arrange a meeting about redeveloping an annexe building. Urgent repairs are needed, and plans for temporary relocation of court facilities are in motion, reflecting the court’s historical importance.
A Mumbai court quashed an Enforcement Directorate (ED) order to attach NCP leader Praful Patel’s properties worth over Rs 180 crore in a money laundering case linked to Iqbal Mirchi. The Appellate Tribunal deemed the action “illegal,” citing lack of evidence and stating that the properties were acquired legitimately. The CBI also found no wrongdoing by Patel.
Today (1st May): The Supreme Court’s nine-judge bench reserved its verdict on whether private properties can be considered community resources under Article 39(b) of the Constitution. The case involves a challenge against Chapter VIII-A of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Act, centered on the state’s power to acquire buildings for restoration. This ongoing case involves 16 petitions and has been a subject of deliberation since 1992.
Today(on 30th April), The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has petitioned the court for an expansion to address limited space and inadequate infrastructure. They have requested the establishment of more courtrooms, lawyers’ chambers, and essential facilities. The DHCBA emphasizes the urgency of this expansion to accommodate the growing demands of the legal community, aiming to alleviate current challenges and create a more efficient system.
