Zafar Ali, president of the Shahi Jama Masjid management committee, was denied bail by a Sambhal court following his arrest on March 23 for involvement in communal violence during a protest against a mosque survey. The court cited serious allegations against him, including inciting unrest and property damage, leading to continued custody.
The Bombay High Court dismissed a criminal case against Raj Thackeray related to a 2008 stone-pelting incident on a State transport bus. The court found no evidence to prove Thackeray incited violence, ruling that he was not present during the attack, and concluded that the case lacked substantial evidence for trial.
