NEW DELHI: On February 17, 2025, the Coordination Committee of All Bar Associations of Delhi made a unanimous decision to oppose the proposed Advocate Amendment Bill 2025. The committee has called for a complete strike from judicial work on Monday, February 19, 2025, in all District Courts across Delhi.
NEW DELHI: The Union Law Ministry has introduced a draft of the Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and has invited public feedback on it. The Bill aims to address modern challenges in the legal profession, improve transparency, and ensure that legal education and practice align with global standards, according to a press release issued by the Ministry.
The Finance Ministry plans to replace the outdated Central Excise Act with a modern Central Excise Bill in an effort to streamline taxation and business processes. The new bill aims to enhance ease of doing business and eliminate obsolete provisions, with a focus on goods not covered under the Goods and Services Tax. The ministry is seeking feedback on the draft bill until June 26th.
