Madras High Court has reserved its verdict on Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam leader Aadhav Arjuna’s plea to quash the FIR filed against him in connection with the Karur stampede row, where he was accused of making inflammatory remarks.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday (28th March) criticized the Gujarat Police for filing a First Information Report (FIR) against Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi over a poem he had posted on social media. The Court ruled in his favor, stating that freedom of speech and expression is more important than the restrictions that can be imposed on it under the law.
A local court on Thursday refused to grant interim bail to Shahi Jama Masjid president Zafar Ali. The court has now scheduled the hearing for his regular bail plea on April 2, according to officials.Additional district judge II, Nirbhay Narayan Rai, dismissed Zafar Ali’s interim bail request after hearing arguments from both the defense and the prosecution.
