Today, On 25th September, Delhi High Court orally stated that it will direct the removal of memes and videos targeting BJP leader and Senior Advocate Gaurav Bhatia. The Court stated, “We will order take down of defamatory videos” if defendants fail to comply.
The Calcutta High Court has directed the CISF to investigate whether CCTV cameras installed by the West Bengal Police outside BJP leader Arjun Singh’s house violate his privacy. Singh claimed they compromised his privacy, prompting the court to instruct the CISF to assess the cameras and report back by July 3rd. The cameras are part of a wider surveillance project in the area.
The Karnataka High Court fined The New Indian Express Rs.10 lakh for irresponsible reporting on a sensitive judicial matter, leading to charges being dropped against a judge. Justice NS Sanjay Gowda criticized the publication for disclosing sensitive information without giving the implicated parties a chance to respond. The court emphasized the need for responsible journalism and called for an internal inquiry into the leaked report.
