Today, On 17th February, The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on Jagtar Singh Hawara’s plea seeking his transfer from Delhi’s Tihar Jail to a Punjab prison. The matter will now be taken up on March 11 for further consideration by the Bench.
Gangster Abu Salem challenged his transfer from Taloja to Nashik Central Prison, citing life threats. Convicted for 1993 Mumbai blasts, he appealed to the Bombay High Court, highlighting security concerns, pending trials, and potential legal complications. The prison’s urgent maintenance and presence of rival gangs in other jails were also raised as issues.
