On Thursday(12th Sept), the Punjab and Haryana High Court stated that disciplinary action for facilitating gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s interview in custody should include higher-ranking officers, not just lower-ranking ones. This followed the Punjab government’s commitment to initiate proceedings against the involved officers.
A Banda court has instructed an additional chief judicial magistrate to investigate the death of former BSP MLA Mukhtar Ansari. Ansari, with a history of legal troubles, passed away in a UP hospital. He previously alleged poisoning in jail. The probe intensifies given the complexities of politics and criminal justice in India.
On Thursday (21st March): Mukhtar Ansari claims he was given poisoned food in jail, causing serious health issues. During a court session, he was unable to attend due to his condition. His lawyer requested medical intervention, stating that Ansari’s health had drastically declined since the alleged poisoning incident. Ansari has also reported a previous poisoning attempt.
