The Delhi High Court will hear the Centre’s objections on July 14 regarding the Popular Front of India (PFI)’s challenge of a UAPA Tribunal decision that upheld a five-year ban on the organization for alleged terrorism links. The PFI seeks judicial review after multiple hearing delays.
The Supreme Court today (29th Nov) criticized the Kerala High Court for wrongly granting bail to 17 accused PFI members in a murder case tied to RSS leader Srinivasan, stating that individual roles were not assessed. It also demanded an explanation from the Supreme Court Registry for failing to list certain Special Leave Petitions by the NIA.
Today(20th Sept), The Supreme Court sought a response from the NIA on the bail plea of Abubacker E, former chief of the banned PFI, after the Delhi High Court denied his request. The court emphasized that any relief could only be considered on medical grounds, given the serious charges against him.
Today(on 30th August),The Delhi High Court denied interim bail to Popular Front of India (PFI) leader OMA Salam, who was arrested under the UAPA. The bench, comprising Justices Prathiba M Singh and Amit Sharma, ruled that Salam’s plea did not justify the granting of interim bail.
