The Supreme Court Today (Aug 11) said it will hear on Thursday a petition claiming elephants were forcibly taken to Gujarat’s Vantara facility. CJI BR Gavai directed the matter to be listed later this week.

Officials claimed Kambala is a long-standing tradition vital to rural communities, reflecting the state’s heritage, despite PETA’s concerns over animal cruelty and commercial interests.
Today, 18th April, The Delhi High Court invalidated a Central government circular banning specific “ferocious dog” breeds due to lack of private stakeholder consultation. They ordered a new circular after public objections were considered. The Karnataka High Court also set aside a similar circular on April 10. The ban included breeds like Pitbull Terrier, Rottweiler, and Mastiffs.
