The Supreme Court has directed the Central Government to establish a negotiation committee to facilitate discussions between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the Pennaiyar river water dispute. This comes after the previous committee failed to make significant progress. The objective is to reach a negotiated settlement and the committee is expected to submit a preliminary report within three months.
