A 35-foot statue of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj collapsed in Sindhudurg district on August 26. Consultant Chetan Patil was arrested shortly after but was granted bail by the Bombay High Court due to lack of evidence linking him to the incident. Another accused, sculptor Jaydeep Apte, awaits his bail plea.
