The Supreme Court Today (May 15th) held that the mandate under Pankaj Bansal v Union of India & Ors. judgment to supply written grounds of arrest to money laundering accused, will apply to cases under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) as well. The Court held the same while quashing the arrest and remand of Prabir Purkayastha, chief editor of online news portal NewsClick.
Today(12th March), The CBI has made progress in recovering fraudulent exam answer sheets from Ghaziabad. Anindya Mitra, representing job recipients, questioned CBI’s actions at Calcutta High Court, raising doubts about the investigation and the consequences faced by those implicated. The court also pondered the logistical challenges of examining 23 lakh OMR sheets. The next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.
