Today, On 9th May, Punjab & Haryana High Court criticised lawyers for observing a “No Work Day” amid rising India-Pakistan tensions, asking, “Forces are fighting the battle, you will be sitting home & resting? Soldiers are at war.”
The district court in Amritsar and sub-divisional court in Ajnala will be closed to the public from May 9 to May 14. Only essential staff and judges will be present due to ongoing security concerns.
The Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association has declared May 9 as a ‘No Work Day’ due to a prolonged blackout in Chandigarh and rising cross-border tensions, urging lawyers to stay away for safety and security.
