The Central Government Today (Aug 13) approved the appointment of three advocates as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court. This comes amid 28 vacancies in the court’s sanctioned strength.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court faces a 40% judges shortage and a backlog of 4.32 lakh cases, with 85% unresolved for over a year. It has recommended elevating 15 judges, the first elevation in over two years. The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana High Courts also appointed new judges to address vacancies.
The Supreme Court Collegium recently recommended three new judges for the Madhya Pradesh High Court, including one judicial officer and two advocates, to strengthen its judicial capacity. The recommendations followed a thorough evaluation process and received concurrence from the Chief Minister and Governor. This move aims to bolster the High Court’s bench strength and ensure effective justice dispensation.
