The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday (June 19th) said it would watch the film “Maharaj” and then decide the plea seeking a stay on the film’s release on the Over The Top (OTT) platform Netflix.
The Gujarat High Court has temporarily banned the release of the movie ‘Maharaj’ by Yash Raj Films and Netflix, following a petition from the Vaishnavite Pustimargi sect. The petitioners objected to alleged scandalous and defamatory content, fearing incitement of hatred and violence. The court has issued notices to the filmmakers, setting the next hearing for June 18.

The series features interviews with the accused and witnesses.

The Delhi High Court has summoned Mehul Choksi, linked to Gitanjali Gems, to appear in person for the ‘Bad Boy Billionaires’ case against the Netflix series. Choksi’s plea to pre-screen the series was denied, citing jurisdiction. The court warned of potential consequences should he lose his appeal, given his non-Indian citizenship and pending cases.
