The Calcutta High Court today(on 5th April) has ordered an NIA investigation into the deaths of BJP activists during pre-2023 election violence in West Bengal. The involvement of Trinamul Congress is under scrutiny. Justice Jay Sengupta directed the central government to transfer the investigation within 15 days and submit a compliance report by April 25.
Friday (on March 22) The special court cancelled the warrant against BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur in the Malegaon Blast Case due to her ill health and reliance on supportive aid. Her lawyer submitted a medical certificate, leading the court to cancel the warrant. She is mandated to appear in court for further proceedings on March 28. The case originates from the 2008 Malegaon bomb explosions.
On 7th March, The NIA demands activist Gautam Navlakha to pay Rs 1.64 crore for security during his house arrest, leading to a dispute. Navlakha, under house arrest since November 2022, contests the figure, labeling it as ‘extortion.’ The Supreme Court has scheduled a detailed hearing in April to address the issue.
