“Strange” Trend of Bail : SC Slammed Patna High Court Order to Grant Bail After 6 months

The Supreme Court today criticized the trend of High Courts granting conditional bail, delaying its effectiveness by 6 months to a year, in the case of a murder accused. The bench found this practice problematic and granted interim bail to the accused, requesting the Bihar government to respond by September 2. SC Grants Bail to Auto-rickshaw driver Accused After 6 Years in Jail

The Supreme Court granted bail to an auto-rickshaw driver accused of murder after he spent six years in jail due to a prolonged trial. A Vacation Bench noted that only one out of 109 witnesses had been examined, prompting them to grant relief to the accused, Ganesh. The accused argued he was not involved in the crime.
